My Mission President's Wife - Sister Kathleen Cope

From April 1986 to April 1988 I had the great blessing of serving in the Missouri Independence Mission.  My mission President was Lloyd J. Cope.  He and his dear wife Kathleen Cope were a wonderful influence on me.  I have always been so grateful for that.  President Cope passed away in 1991.

Sister Cope just recently returned from her second mission - Alabama Birmingham.  She was able to serve with Mason in Ensley, Alabama and was a tremendous influence on him as well.  She came home early to help care for her son Jeff who had suffered a massive heart attack and is a living miracle.

We enjoyed a great lunch on Saturday the 29th at Thanksgiving Point.  She is so kind and bore a an amazing testimony of the restored gospel and the work going on in Alabama - amazing conversion stories of people coming unto Christ.  It was wonderful.

New Changes. New Opportunities.

Elder Rappleye - Mason's New Companion
I have a new companion now. It was transfer week and I am still in Ensley.  I have been called to be a senior companion. My new comps name is Elder Rappleye. He is a visa missionary waiting to go to Brazil. He is a stud! I love working with him. Elder Chugg is with another visa missionary also waiting to go to Brazil. So we are still in the same appt.  Just not as companions.

So its been a crazy week. We had to get our appartment sprayed for bed bugs.Yeah that sucked!   So in terms of how the week has been going . . .  it's been nuts, but going great :)  We are teaching this guy named Derell Tyrone Banks Junior the second haha.  We just call him Derell or Junior.  He is a Stud!  He is used to be a weed smoker, cigerette smoker, and drinker. But he has stoped doing those things cause he wants to get baptized. He has been coming to church now for 3 weeks and he is loving it!   He is a freakin crack up haha.  We are going over there tonight and I'll take my camera and film him for a little bit and you'll see what I mean. He is way funny!  It's always a blast hangin out with him.

So things here are going good. We don't have a lot going on yet since its the start of the transfer.  But this week is going to be rockin!  Me and Elder Rappleye are working way hard and having a blast!  I'll let you know how this week goes :) It will be awesome!  Oh and I have lost 7 pounds in the past 2 weeks!  I am so stoked! haha  I went from 196 to 188 :)  haha sorry, I know thats random, but I am way pumped about it.

"And how great show be your joy . . . "

Kistra Defranza, Ensley Alabama

So on Saturday we had a Baptism for Kistra :)  It was awesome!  Very Successful :) Kind of stressful trying to get ready for it.  President Holzafel has asked that we try to get the members running the show.  What ended up happening was I needed to give a talk.  I was very nervous.  I can't remember what I talked about or what I said, but all I hope is that it helped her in some way.  But it went well!  Elder Chugg Baptized her and she asked me to do the confirmation. That too was very scary!!  Like I said I can't remember what I said, but all I Hope is that it helps her in some way. It was a very cool experience though. You really have to be in tune with the spirit to know what to say to the person your confirming. But like I said, it was a very cool experience!

We have four baptisms coming up in the next few weeks! :)  That's always a good thing.  We have been teaching a lady named Cecelia. She is loving the Gospel!  She is trying to quit smoking right now has been doing good with that!  She wants to get baptized on the 29th so hopefully all goes well there :)  Keep her in your prayers.

We have another one set for the 29th :) His name is Bam!  Well, he has another name but we call him Bam. He is a little brother of one of the young men in the branch. He is 13, and hasn't been baptized yet.  Why, I don’t know, but he came to church on Sunday and came up to us after and told us he wants to be baptized :) So we are starting lessons with him tomorrow. The cool part is that his older brother will be the one baptizing him. When we told him that his face just lit up! It was soooo cool!  So if you could keep him in your prayers that would be awesome!  So we are way excited for him :) Then we have Vonya for the 15th still :) She is doing great!  Then the other missionaries have a guy named Darrell (The guy is a freaking stud!).  He is scheduled I think for the 5th... ? I'm not sure. But yeah so Ensley is growing :)  It's so cool to see the Lord's hand in all of this. Cause most of the people we are teaching are referrals from members. So in other words they have been finding us. Its way awesome knowing that the Lord wants this place to grow. Thanks for all of your support and prayers :) It means a lot. You can really see it growing because of it. Thank you all soooo much! I love and miss you.
